UNDP InfoSegura reinforced the technological infrastructure and technical capabilities of the National Civil Police of Guatemala for citizen security data and information management
The regional UNDP InfoSegura Project provided the Joint Operations Division of the National Civil Police with computer equipment and furniture, which was used to equip and install the C-5 Crime and Conflict Command and Control Centre. Following several years of effort, this high-performance equipment enables the National Civil Police to set up the Command Centre to coordinate all the sections of the Joint Operations Division to provide a coordinated response to crime and violence.
This is part of an ongoing process of equipping and reinforcing the technological infrastructure and capacities of technical personnel in the institutions that are sources of citizen security data and information. This started seven years ago, with the main partner Ministry of the Interior, and the National Civil Police, through the UNDP InfoSegura Project, with the support of USAID. This process began at the Statistics Section of the Joint Operations Division (DOC) and is being extended to the other constituent sections.
Attending the event were Director General of the National Civil Police Commissioner General Héctor Leonel Hernandez Mendoza; Deputy Director General of Operations Commissioner General Nery Benito Hernandez; Head of the C-5 Crime and Conflict Command and Control Centre, Commissioner Saúl Hernandez; and Ana María Diaz, UNDP Resident Representative in Guatemala, along with other authorities and guests.
