Migration in the Americas: Analysis of the hemispheric migration landscape in America

What challenges do migrants face? What is the key to the migration phenomenon? What are governments doing to prevent mass migration? What are the policies that protect migrants in different territories? The lack of clear information and a holistic approach to the issue can be a barrier to the effectiveness of government mechanisms aimed at protecting Latin American migrants.

InfoSegura participated in the conference on "Migration in the Americas: The Workings of Collective Hope," a hemispheric online conference to analyse the current state of migration in the Americas, organized by Florida International University and Kimberly Green Latin America and Caribbean Centre (LACC), as an effort to understand the migration phenomenon and the policy options to protect migrants that are available to different governments and the international community.

Speakers explored responses to the migration crisis by governments and the international community from different areas, providing examples, such as migrants settled in foreign territories and returning migrants who face the violence and the other social issues that forced them to leave their homes in a desperate attempt to improve their condition.

Among the main topics addressed at the conference were "The Many Migrations in the Americas," "The Multiple and Endless Challenges of Migrants and Refugees," "Public Health Challenges for Migrants in Florida" and "Alcohol Use Pre and Post Migration."

The conference brought together multiple experts and government leaders, international NGOs, academia and multilateral organizations who shared their experience and knowledge in dealing with migration policies in their territories, and the results of long-term research conducted on the subject.
