First citizen security week in Central America and the Dominican republic
With over 120 people in attendance, the UNDP InfoSegura Regional Project in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) inaugurated the First Citizen Security Week in Central America and the Dominican Republic, called "Data to Analyse, Actions to Transform."
Antigua Guatemala was the venue for this space for dialogue and exchange of experiences, contributing to enhance citizen security, social cohesion, justice and promote more effective governance in the framework of the efforts and achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 16 on peace, security and justice.
In the interest of exchanging experiences and establishing a high-level political dialogue on the present and future of citizen security policies, attendees included high-level authorities and officials from throughout the region, namely those responsible for public policies on citizen security, justice and violence prevention. This includes key officials in national and local governmental, statistical institutes and offices, representatives of academia and think tanks, the private sector, national and international experts, as well as USAID and UNDP representatives.
